Paul Wise - Director
Paul’s background in commercial property is extremely varied with particular strengths in representing Corporations in portfolio strategy, business rates, lease restructures, disposals and acquisitions. Paul previously worked as a Partner/Director at Montagu Evans and Doherty Baines.
Paul is one of the original co-founders and owners of the company from 2011. He represents large corporations such as Carlsberg Britvic, Beko, Civica, Eon Control Solutions, Iris Finance Software and Fairstone Financial. Paul continues to be involved in commercial property transactions throughout the UK, ROI, Europe, US and Asia.
Paul cycles and runs a bit as his football and hockey playing days are over; he also likes to watch Everton and Luton Town FC as much as possible.
Mark Short - Director
Mark qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1995 and has almost 30 years commercial property surveying experience. Mark has considerable experience across all commercial property disciplines from Agency through to Valuations and is an expert in the fields of Landlord & Tenant and Rating, whilst also being a RICS Registered Valuer.
Mark is one of the original owners of the company joining in 2013. He is experienced in all types of commercial properties with a particular focus on the leisure and restaurant sectors and includes Marylebone Cricket Club, Surrey Country Cricket Club, Martin Brower Group, Columbia Threadneedle and Cosmo Restaurant Group among his valued clients’.
In addition to his client facing role, Mark is responsible for training graduates within the company for the APC where he can bore them with his extensive surveying knowledge!
Mark enjoys running and golf and has recently taken up mountain biking. He is a long suffering supporter of Watford FC, still harping on about the early 80s when they finished 2nd in Division 1 and played in Europe!
Philip Treadwell - Director
Phil has been with the company since 2017 and is head of our Commercial Valuations department having over 20 years’ experience in the field. He is an RICS registered valuer and is responsible for managing and running a team of valuers undertaking Commercial Valuations for various lending facilities.
Phil is a recent proud father which he loves despite some sleep deprivation! In his spare time Phil enjoys playing golf around the courses of Kent and he recently attended the Ryder Cup in Italy. Phil also loves skiing holidays when he gets the chance!
Oliver Hartley - Director
Oli joined Hanway Commercial in 2017 as a graduate surveyor and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2019.
As a Director he now provides Corporate Real Estate Management advice to the likes of Fairstone, Iris Software, Civica, Eon Control Solutions and Al Murad Tiles across their entire UK portfolio’s.
Further to this Oli also provides advice on Acquisitions, Business Rates Mitigation, and Lease Advisory matters across office, retail, industrial and leisure sectors nationwide for a wide variety of clients.
Outside of work Oli enjoys playing football (Man Utd) and avidly follows the Cricket (England and Surrey) , F1 ( Lewis Hamilton) and NFL (Seattle Seahawks).
Julia Hughes - Administration Manager
After completing a degree at Middlesex University Julia worked in the fashion and marketing industry in Central London before starting a family. She now works as an Office Manager as well as supporting the Valuations team at Hanway Commercial.
Julia has a passion for Dance, Theatre/Musicals, Running/Dog walking (Lenny), Gin and Tonics (Doubles) and of course property!
Darrell Ryan - Business Development Manager
Darrell has been with the company for 12 years, specialising in new business and business development in the Commercial property sector. Darrell previously ran business development operations at Montagu Evans, Vail Williams and Conneely Tribe in Central London.
Darrell is an active member of Blackheath Tennis Club and a prolific finisher of crosswords in The Daily Telegraph. Darrell also recently became a grandfather recently for the first time.
Gabriel Kerr - Assistant Surveyor
Gabriel has joined Hanway Commercial team as a Graduate Surveyor supporting the senior team in Valuations, Agency, Corporate Estate Management and Business Rates work. After working in the family real estate business on weekends and holidays he has now completed his Degree in Real Estate at Nottingham Trent University in 2022.
Outside of work Gabriel is a part time sportsman but full-time social member of his local rugby team in addition to playing for Bentham Cricket Club. When not playing he can be found supporting the RFU’s least favourite club Ealing Trailfinders. Also being from West London his favourite drink is a pint of London Pride!
Sophie Ward - Team Assistant
Sophie Ward has over a decade of experience in front-of-house coordination, executive support, and office management across the retail, property, and corporate sectors. Former workplaces include household names like Ted Baker, John Lewis and Ballymore Property. Sophie supports the wider team with day-to-day operations, communications, administrative tasks-all while keeping things running smoothly (and cheerfully) here at Hanway.
Sophie has a young family but still enjoys travel and nights out with friends; plus she has strong claims to being the best footballer at Hanway after a brief career at Charlton Ladies FC.
